After the publication of the first volumes of the ALD (Atlante linguistico del ladino dolomitico e dei dialetti limitrofi) “Linguistic Atlas of the Dolomite Ladin and the neighbouring dialects”, the people in charge of it are working on the second part, which will complete the first one and which will be about the vocabulary (lexicon), the word formation (morphology) and the sentence construction (syntax) of the Ladin language.
The project is carried out under the direction of the university prof. dr. Hans Goebl (University of Salzburg) and offers a detailed picture of the situation of the language area, which goes from the Grisons to Friul.
With the multimedial version of the atlas, the so-called “Speaking Linguistic Atlas” (available on CD-ROM and DVD) it is possible to listen to the pronunciation of the names of 21 places of the Dolomite Ladin area.

The ALD outlines on the one hand the variety of idioms and dialects of the Dolomite region, on the other hand it shows the similarity between the language varieties, which are spoken in the Grisons, the Dolomites and in Friul. |
